Civil Society Organizations

Are CSOs attending? If so, how many?

Eighty members of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) around the world will be invited to take part in the debates.

Have CSOs been involved the process?

The Advisory Group on Civil Society (AG-CS) has been active in the process, and has launched an extensive consultation process that is considered fundamental to the establishment of a multi-stakeholder consensus over time on issues of civil society and aid effectiveness. In 2008 so far, the AG-CS held an International Forum in Canada in February 3-6 2008, and there will be follow-up consultative meetings right up to the CSO Forum on Aid Effectiveness taking place in Accra from August 30 – September 1, 2008.

How can a CSO participate in the Forum?

Participation from Civil Society Organizations in the High Level Forum is organized by the International Civil Society Steering Group. We encourage you to contact them at office@ibon.be and express your interest. You will find more information on the Steering Group here.

There is a CSO forum also in Accra several days before the High Level Forum. Are they the same conference?

The CSO event is independent from the High Level Forum. In other words, they are not the same conference.

My organization has recently conducted a study that is directly related to aid effectiveness and I would like to present the results of our study at the Forum – how do I go about with this?

Results from studies concerning aid effectiveness are greatly encouraged. Please feel free to forward results electronically to secretariat@accrahlf.net.

Will there be a report published after the Forum is over? How can I obtain a copy?

The events of the Forum will be fully documented on the website, along with reports from the regional events taking place between April and June 2008. A chairman’s summary and reports from the nine roundtables will be prepared and will be posted on the website.
