Agenda of the Third High Level Forum

What is the “Marketplace of Ideas” on the first day and what is it intended to achieve?

The Marketplace of Ideas will provide an opportunity for a wide range of actors to showcase good and innovative practices and lessons from promoting aid effectiveness, with an exhibition of platforms from over 200 countries and civil society organizations. It provides room for sharing knowledge and presenting innovative ideas. The Marketplace will be presented on all three days of the event.

How can I participate in the Marketplace?

Instructions on how to prepare for the Marketplace of Ideas have been sent to invited countries and organizations.

What is the Agenda for the Forum?

The Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness will be held in Accra on Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 of September 2008. The first two days will largely focus on discussions among aid practitioners, including at a series of nine roundtables. The final day will be the “High Level Forum” itself, at which heads of agencies, other senior officials and Ministers will discuss key issues, and the endorsement of the Accra Action Agenda (AAA). In addition, a “marketplace” of knowledge and ideas will be organized during the thee days. All the three components (marketplace, roundtables and ministerial) are complementary and integral to the HLF-3.

What will be the practical outcomes of the nine Roundtables?

The purpose of the Roundtable Meetings is to undertake discussions that can advance the aid effectiveness agenda. Specifically, they will identify issues and actions that are grounded on evidence and provide an in-depth dialogue on selected topics to facilitate and support decision making and policy endorsement by Ministers and will articulate a way forward on a number of issues that are key to advancing aid effectiveness.

As the Accra Agenda for Action will have been drafted, discussed and agreed before the conference, what is the purpose of the third day?

The ministerial segment will address key policy level concerns, will endorse the Accra Agenda for Action, and will set the agenda for future aid effectiveness actions worldwide.

Can I have a copy of the Agenda?

The detailed agenda of the forum is currently being prepared by the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness, and will be shared with participants and posted on this website when it is ready.
