Related Links

The DAC principles for Good International Engagement in Situations of Fragility (the DAC principles) were though by all to provide a key framework for aid effectiveness in these challenging environments as a complement to the Paris Declaration.

Next steps:

  • Monitoring the DAC principles would start now with Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Timor Leste, Sierra Leone,  and Central African Republic as volunteers.
  • A process to agree on international objectives for state building and peace building was launched with support from the DAC Secretariat and possibly the UN Peace building Support Office.
  • A donor process was underway to examine financing issues for fragile situations, including in the early recovery phase.
  • The Government of Switzerland will host a meeting to address the issue of coherence between international actors regarding development, diplomacy, and defense.
