Roundtable 9: The Changing Aid Architecture and Impact on Aid Effectiveness Roundtable 9 focused on identifying how countries can manage assistance from all sources in order to attain maximum development results. Countries welcome the growing diversity of providers of assistance, and see South-South and triangular cooperation, including at regional level, as highly complementary to traditional aid.
Countries look for very similar things from all sources of assistance: responsiveness and speed, untying and transparency, predictability, and more broadly respect for the principles of the Paris Declaration.
Global program funds also have many positive achievements. When new high-profile issues arise, such as climate change or the food and energy crises, reform and adaptation of existing institutions should be the first priority.
More work is needed on such issues such as sustainability and subsidiarity and the role of funding of civil society organizations within national and local strategies.
