Pacific Regional Workshop on Aid Effectiveness
The Pacific Regional Workshop on Aid Effectiveness was held in Nadi, Fiji, on April 4, 5 and 7, 2008. The workshop was co-sponsored by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, the UNDP Pacific Center, and the Asian Development Bank. The countries that participated in the workshop included officials from the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
Other participants at the workshop were representatives of the Council of Regional Organizations of the Pacific (CROP) agencies, Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), Pacific Power Association (PPA), Secretariat of the Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC), the University of the South Pacific (USP), Secretariat for the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), European Commission (EC), New Zealand (NZAID); Pacific Pacific Financial Technical Advisory Centre (PFTAC), the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), and the World Bank.
The objectives of the workshop were to consider progress in the implementation of the Pacific Aid Effectiveness Principles and preparations for the Accra High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, with specific focus given to managing for development results and mutual accountability, and the role of aid information management systems.
